Week 9

Topic 1 1. I remember when I was in 2nd or 3rd grade, I was listening to an Eminem song on my ipod and I thought a verse was funny and wanted to show my dad because someone farted during the song. Me, being young and not actually realizing that the words in the song were very inappropriate and definitely shouldn't have been listening to it, showed my dad. He wasn't mad but he defiantly questioned how I even found a song like that to listen to and told me not to listen to it again. 2.  I felt super awkward in the car with my dad for a while, because once I actually listened to the lyrics and put two and two together... I wouldn't have ever shown my dad that song. 3. Country is for sure my favorite music, but I could honestly listen to anything. Some of my favorite artists/bands are Aaron Watson, Casey Donahew, Chris Young, Cody Johnson, and Little Big Town. I really enjoy music and could listen to anything and be happy. Topic 2 1. To be honest, I have no idea abo

Week 8

Topic 1 1. Some of the books I have heard of are also movies or shows (which I have watched), which are, Thirteen reasons why, fifty shades of grey, the hunger games, perks of being a wall flower, and twilight. Some of the books I have read on that list when I was younger were Captain underpants, and scary stories. In my opinion, I think people these days (parents especially) are getting a little bit out of hand when it comes to "banning" certain books or movies that their kids can and can not watch at school. To a certain point I understand, I cant imagine my son going to school and watching the movie Fifty Shades of Grey... but other then that I feel like no matter what, if the kid wants to read a certain book or watch a certain movie, that they are going to do so either way. Everyone has their own opinion on religion and own opinion on racism.. so on and so forth.. but I don't see why the child cant read a book and make their on decisions on things. 2. As I said i

Week 7 Project 2

Topic 4 INTRODUCE - I chose to do my project on Fifty Shades Darker. I saw the first movie, Fifty Shades of Grey and enjoyed it and have been meaning to watch the new movie and decided it would be a good opportunity to do so. It stood out to me because its different then what most movies portray. It was all over the news and commercials for quite some time because of the reputation it had of being outside of most peoples comfort zones. -  Fifty Shades Darker Trailer DESCRIBE - The lead rolls in this movie are Christina Grey, played by Jamie Dornan and Anastaisa Steel played by, Dakota Johnson. The director to the movie was James Foley and based on a novel written by E.L. James. The movie grossed nearly 380 million dollars with a 55 million dollar budget. - Fifty Shades Darker is about an erotic love story between Christian and Ana. At the end of the first movie, Fifty Shades of Grey, Christian and Ana ended things between them. At the start to Fifty Shades Darker, they run

Week 6

Topic 1: Newspapers - I personally get my news from Facebook, or my friends, or TV. To be honest, I don't find myself checking on the news or being concerned on the update of the world as much as I know I should. I wouldn't  say that the information I receive is always 100% credible. Considering that I get most of my information online, not everything is true. If I was to find something I wanted to look into more, then I would do further research and make sure what I am reading is the truth. - I don't personally subscribe for any news sources or anything along those lines. I think the reason why I don't feel the need to is because everything seems to become so public within just a few minutes of something dramatic happening in the world. - On a scale from 1-5 I would say I am informed to about a 3. When it comes to general community information I am not too excited about looking for information. The only thing I think I would be most concerned with is that my son

Week 5

Topic 1 1. I thought it was interesting that having someone mix up different beats to songs, putting them together is potentially making a "new song" or "new beat" when in reality, it is still the same songs put together. In my personal opinion, if you're mixing two or three songs together, changing up the beat, and rearranging everything about the song that it is a new song... but still argument there is that all the songs still have copyright to them. I haven't personally ever mixed up songs or had issues with it, but I've had a friend that used to DJ and explained to some extent what he is and isn't aloud to do with music. 2. One of the questions I guess I would have is, when it comes to music, how many songs and how many different ways do you have to adjust the beat and sound for it to be considered a new song without having to deal with the copyright of all the original songs? 3/4. I think the situation when someone stole "mickey mou

Week 4 Blog project #1

DESCRIBE 1. I chose to watch the show shameless on netflix, I started watching the show about a year ago and it just recently came out with a new season, and recently started re-watching the show. 2. I would say that the show shameless falls into the category of drama. Although the show if portrayed by real people could easily fall into a reality show with it being about a family and their lifestyle. 3. In the episode I recently watched, Frank, just woke up in the hospital after being in a coma for 30 days. After getting out of the hospital he went to bar and see his family then shortly after realized none of them went to look for him while he was in the hospital. While all that is happening, Debbie is struggling with being a teen mother and contemplates giving up her baby. Instead of giving up the child for adoption, she decides to start steeling from people and selling their items online for money. Fiona is managing the diner she is working at currently and trying to go back to

Week 3

Topic 1 1. Being a hairdresser, one of the first things I saw was a Paul Mitchell shampoo I just bought and there for I decided to use that as an example. I used facebook and typed paul mitchell in the search engine, first few things that came up were their actual page to like which, over one million people have liked... or there is a paul mitchell beauty school in portland. Of course anything that pops up on other sites that uses paul mitchell uses the hash tags #paulmitchell 2. I'd say their target audience is females between ages 18 and 40, or somewhere around there. There is also some male products that direct towards men around the same age... but women are the focal point of their product. They use "smooth and silky hair" as a main focus.. because lets be honest, what girl doesn't want that. I would say how they advertise does work... and a good reason why I am saying that is because while I'm working I get asked for my opinion on their product quite
